I don't know of any factory modifications to add a sixth gear, but it should be possible to change the ratio of the gears. I'm looking at a bit of a different approach, however. I think I have a line on a sprocket that will fit the primary drive position. It is bigger than the factory sprocket, and should increase top end performance. Then belt and belt cover will have to be replaced to accomodate the change, but I think those changes will be easier than trying to rebuild the gear box. It should make for a good winter project ... who knows ... it might even work! If it does, I'll let you know.
